I drafted two covers for my magazine. These were the two options:
The first one went for a more classy, elegant look. While the second one is a more relaxed, rustic look. I am leaning towards the first one more, since it looks more realistic, and the photo displays her features more than the second cover. The lighting is also much better in the first one. I used photoshop for both covers, aswell as the rest of my magazine.
My cover uses general conventions in my genre, like using an animal as the main cover image, and centerpiece. As well as attracting the target audience by using cute animals as the cover, and listing articles related to it.
