Case Study: Representing the World

aroyzis2007
  1. Introduce Representation and why it is important and share an image of each type of media (movie cover, magazine cover, etc.) you will be discussing.

Representation is extremely important, especially in the world we live in nowadays. There are so many different ethnicities, sexualities, races, and more. So making sure that everyone feels accepted, and not like an outsider is important to have a happy world. If there is no representation, then people who are not what we perceive as “normal,” will feel like they don’t belong. So representation is important, so that everyone feels welcomed, and like they belong in the world.

These representations in mean girls are pretty accurate, they represent teenage girls in high school. Which is what I am, so it stands out to me. It also includes real problems like bullies, and becoming popular. I think the person who made this is an older director. Possibly a male or female. But I think that if it was a male, he represented it pretty accurately. Not too far off, of course some things are exaggerated but it's to create drama. Tina fay wrote this movie, so it is someone like me. She is a woman like me, so she understands what these girls are going through. Making the film reach out to people like me even more.

The representations in this show are very accurate. Definitely much more than mean girls. This show follows a character who is extremely relatable to most girls. She is awkward, and goes through awkward situations very often. I think that a woman created this, since it is very accurate, and even goes into her mind sometimes. Showing thoughts that people like me would have. The person who created this show is a lot like the main character, thus meaning she is like me. The creator of this show showed her interpretation of a high school girl's experience. So it is someone like me.

The representations in this show are very vast, having a range of different characters. It also represents students in school, about to go to high school. Which was me a few years ago. When I watched this show I related to a specific character very much.

I think the person creating this is someone who had this exact experience when they were in school. The person creating this is a middle aged man, but one of the characters is him when he was in middle school. So it is slightly accurate, because he is telling the story of his life, just in a animated version.
